TopMinton Rules & Guidelines
Welcome to our community! These rules ensure a fun, respectful, and fair experience for everyone.
Player Conduct
Respect & Sportsmanship
Treat all players with respect, regardless of skill level. Avoid negative comments, excessive celebrating, or taunting. Badminton is a social sport—enjoy the game and the company of your opponent.
Punctuality
Arrive on time for scheduled matches. Notify your opponent at least 1 hour in advance if you need to reschedule. Repeatedly canceling matches may result in account suspension.
Honesty
Play honestly and call fouls fairly. If you're unsure about a line call, the benefit of the doubt goes to the opponent. Do not falsify match results or ratings.
Equipment
Shuttle Types
TopMinton players use either feather shuttles (natural cork and feathers) or plastic shuttles (synthetic). When hosting a match, specify which type you prefer. Respect others' preferences—they may have allergies, equipment, or court availability concerns.
Racquets & Apparel
Bring a properly strung badminton racquet in good condition. Wear appropriate athletic clothing and non-marking court shoes. Do not wear street clothes or outdoor shoes on court.
Court Setup
If you're hosting a match, ensure the court meets basic standards: proper dimensions, good lighting, and a clean playing surface. Bring your own shuttles if possible; communicate expectations in advance.
Scheduling & Hosting
Creating Hosted Matches
When you host a match, provide a clear title, date/time, location, and max number of players. Be honest about court quality and facilities. Update your listing if circumstances change.
Joining Matches
Confirm your attendance when you join a hosted match. If you can no longer play, notify the host as soon as possible. No-shows without notice may affect your community reputation.
Match Duration
A typical friendly match lasts 30–60 minutes. Agree on best-of-three or best-of-five before play begins. Agree on tie-break rules (e.g., first to 15 at 20-20) to avoid disputes.
Direct Challenges
Sending a Challenge
When challenging another player, propose a specific date, time, and location. Include a friendly message. Respect their response—not all players will accept.
Accepting or Declining
Respond to challenges within 48 hours. If you decline, a brief explanation is courteous. Repeated ignored challenges may reflect poorly on your profile.
Recording Results
After a match, one player records the result (winner and optional score). Report the true outcome. Match history contributes to your public profile and reputation.
Disputes & Enforcement
Resolving Disagreements
If a dispute arises during a match, pause play and discuss calmly. In a friendly setting, err on the side of grace. If you cannot agree, you may replay that point or end the match amicably.
Reporting Violations
If another player violates these rules (e.g., hostile behavior, false results, repeated no-shows), report it via your profile or contact the admin. We take community standards seriously.
Account Suspension
Serious violations (harassment, fraud, repeated cancellations) may result in warnings or account suspension. Our goal is a safe, inclusive community.
